Just a thought

…to do on my computer?

Tonight I sent some e-cards to friends. I use the incredibly beautiful and entertaining cards by Jacquie Lawson. You should really check it out. She does great work and I wish I had the time, the know-how and talent to produce something like that.

I love well-made software, useful stuff. Over the years I have found that not all of it has to be really expensive. Actually I use in my work some software they don’t make anymore. But it’s so well made that it still serves it’s purpose and works on Windows XP the same as it did on Windows 3.1 – yes it’s that old. It’s the screen capture utility by Jasc software. Whatever they produce is very good, well made. They developed Paint Shop Pro from a shareware program (I started with version 2) into a full-featured graphics program that can give Photoshop a run for its money. Whatever they produce is definitely made for the novice AND for experts alike. It’s simple and easy to use. If you are into digital photography then you should look at their Photo Album.

Geez, I don’t even get paid by those people for promoting them 🙂 As I said, I like well made software and utilities. I actually know what I am talking about, I’ve been in the computer/support/development/web design business now for 14 years , loving and learning every minute of it.

I’ll talk more about software, buying it, learning it and using it. But right now I’ll go put my feet up. I wanted to build a fire tonight, it’s cold and damp outside. Better get going then.

… to start my blog.

Seems appropriate to start this blog with a little plug for the Snowbirds. They are here every spring, doing their dance twice a day right in front of my house. Every time I watch these birds, my heart beats a little faster, they make my day… no, my year!

The Snowbirds are the Canadian Aerobatic Team. In a former life I was a Flight Attendant and the noise of jets is in my blood… here they are doing it again.

I hope that the not so illustrious bunch of rulers in Ottawa don’t cut the funding for that team, as they have cut everything else in the forces. But it’s too nice a day to rant about those people who step away from reality as soon as they are elected to office…
