Just a thought

… drive me crazy!

Ok, I’d never park in a handicapped spot. That’s just rude and I appreciated them when I actually needed it and had a permit. There is actually a law governing that one! I imagine that in a few years I might also appreciated ‘seniors parking’, for those who ache and have a hard time moving, and, frankly deserve to be a bit closer to the place they want to be.

Now picture this: It’s Friday evening. A young couple, both very able-bodied with a small girl are getting into their car in the PARENTS parking spot. The father follows me into the store to tell me that I parked in a PARENTS spot and didn’t have a child with me. I told him that I was a parent. He said it was for parents with SMALL children. I asked him if that makes him special? (Oh, eat my shorts…)

So now we have parking for PARENTS with small children. What about PARKING-FOR-WORKERS-WHO-ARE-TIRED-AFTER-WORK-AND-JUST-WANT-TO-PICK-UP-SOME-FOOD-FOR-DINNER? Or how about PARKING-FOR-PEOPLE-WHO-CAN’T-WALK-VERY-FAR-BUT-DON’T-FIT-INTO-THE-OTHER-CATEGORIES?

I want my own special parking spot, so that I can tell someone who is not as special as me that they should park where everyone else does… waaaaaayyyy down there. My parking spot would be PARKING-FOR-THE-CHILDLESS-ABLE-BODIED-WHO-DOESN’T-WANT-TO-WALK-FAR. I deserve it! 🙂

…describes what Canada has become

Former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm gave a speech three years ago. It’s repeated in this blog: The American Scene a bit down the page. He gives 8 methods that would destroy America. Canada is mentioned, but it’s about America. IMHO, however, check off the points: tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick… Canada is done!

“Having made America (read Canada) a bilingual-bicultural country, having established multiculturalism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of ‘Victimology,’ I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: “That because immigration has been good for America (read Canada), it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant sympatric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them.”

So, a speech given 3 years ago by Dr. Lamm, which I found just today, expresses my opinion about what I think has happend in Canada so clearly, what else is there to say? Except ARE YOU REALLY STANDING ON GUARD, CANDA? Are you standing at all?
